The quantum world is small but growing. We are a steadily-growing scale-up with an ever-expanding worldwide customer base. We provide our photon detection systems to a wide range of customers and research institutes. This can only be done thanks to our indominable colleagues, who fabricate, assemble and test our detectors. In addition to fabricating of the actual detectors and building the cryostats, Single Quantum also develops and builds its own electronics inhouse.


What you will be doing

As our Assembly Technician, your main responsibility will be assembling and testing cryostats. This as well requires testing of optical fibers and electrical cables. You will also be routing the cables and the wiring. It is a hands-on job which requires elegance and precision, comparable to a jeweler. The work is done in a team of 3 to 4 where you can share ideas and continuously improve be improving your own work. You will also be involved in thinking along with members from other teams such as the Optical testing lab or Development teams.

The parts will come from multiple suppliers and you will bring all of them together in our assembly line. Putting them together is a puzzle you will solve with your colleagues, and our product is high-tech so every day can bring something new. You are free to improvise by tinkering on your own while working in the assembly.

Ideally, you will work full time and will be based at our HQ in Delft, contributing to our dynamic and friendly work environment!

Job requirements

Your profile

  • You have an MBO-HBO educational background in a relevant subject;
  • You have some experience in mechanical craftmanship like operating a mill, lathe, etc.;
  • You like to work with your hands to assemble and get things working;
  • You are go-getter when it comes to putting things together and like to tinker;
  • You have a sense of wonder and admiration for physics;
  • You are committed, not afraid to take ownership and pose a high level of accuracy and precision;
  • You have good time management skills.


The following working experiences are a plus;

  • Prior work as precision mechanic;
  • Prior experiences in assembly lines;
  • Experience with soldering;
  • Experience working with optical fibers;
  • Hands-on experience in a production environment.
