Job description

We are seeking a highly-skilled individual to lead our efforts in establishing robust and precise methods for assessing the yield and quality of our nanofabrication processes. You will form a bridge between the Nanofabrication and the Testing Team by improving accuracy and reliability of the collected data, ensuring decisions can be made on the highest quality data available.


As Process Engineer (Electro-Optical Manufacturing), you will also be involved in developing new methods to assess the yield and quality of the nanofabrication process.

Specific tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Develop optical characterization methods
  • Analyze and visualize data (to improve production and yield of detectors).
  • Audit data for inconsistencies and errors and implement correction measures.
  • Collaborate closely with software developers and testing team.
  • Optimize production processes to enhance quality and yield.
Further on, you will also perform optical and electrical characterization of SNSPD’s (using a variety of lab equipment), check and maintain characterization setups to ensure accuracy, mount detectors and check the performance of the cryostats, as well as define and implement test protocols. You will work closely with other team members but the actual testing is performed independently. Additionally, we are in the process of developing new methods for characterizing detectors and will also ask of you to contribute to and assist with this.

Job requirements

We are looking for someone who has...

  • A MSc. degree in the field of Physics, Optics, Electronics or equivalent.
  • Previous experience with test and measurement activities for high-tech equipment in a lab environment.
  • Experience in working with optical fibers.
  • Experience with laser set-ups or quantum optics is a plus.
  • Experience with Tableau or other similar data visualization software is a plus.
  • Tenacity and great accuracy to follow through.
  • The ability to work independently, pro-active and feel comfortable in an autonomous work environment.
  • High sense of commitment and responsibility.
  • Precise working attitude.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
