In our Research team, we are working on multiple EU-projects with several partners across Europe. Some of these projects are cutting edge, related to Quantum technologies like Quantum communication and Quantum sensing while others are related to concrete and challenging applications like Lidar and Space. All these projects require a customized version of our detectors and creative and dedicated people are needed to help testing and screening these ideas to start mapping them into concrete new products.

As part of the Research team and in close collaboration with other Research Engineers, you will identify novel applications of our single photon detection technology. You will also help establish a strong network with research groups and industrial partners to identify new growth paths. An integral part of the job will be to identify funding opportunities and collaborate in the writing of grant applications.

The mission of this new role is to maintain Single Quantum at the forefront position by facing state-of-the-art single photon detection challenges. As a Research Engineer, you will be involved in EU research projects, will play a key role in SNSPD system concept design, and take responsibility in developing new critical technology and key modules according to Single Quantum’s technology and product roadmap.

What you will be doing
The tasks include but are not limited to:

  • R&D activities related to novel scientific applications.

  • Carrying out optical experiments both at Single Quantum's R-lab and together with potential partners or customers to demonstrate diverse applications.

  • Identify funding opportunities and help writing grant applications.

  • Enhance Single Quantum's professional network and set up demonstrations and collaborations.

  • Generate new SNSPD concepts for next-generation photon detection systems.

  • Attend conferences and trade shows to present Single Quantum's technology and find new applications and customers.

Job requirements

We are looking for someone with the following characteristics:

  • PhD in applied Physics or equivalent is expected.

  • A solid technical background, knowledge and hands-on experience of optical techniques.

  • Curious and eager to learn every day.

  • High sense of responsibility and commitment.

  • Ability to work independently while also being a great team member.

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Enjoys traveling and connecting with people.
